Tincture And Its Uses

Tincture is an alcoholic solution of herbs which have at least 40 to 60 percent of ethanol. The alcohol acts as a preservative as it dissolves all the chemical of the plants. They include 25 percent of ethanol in herbal medicine.

In herbal medicine they do not always use ethanol as solvent. They can be prepared by heating herbs and alcohol at different temperatures or filtering. They are made by using 60 percent of alcohol like gin, vodka and brandy.

They can be easily made by using the basic technique of steeping the herbs with vodka, whiskey and gin where 60 percent of alcohol is used with the cut herbs. Let both the herbs and alcohol to steep for two weeks. This can be used for at least 2 years.

If this is used for children then alcohol can be removed by heating the portion to boiling so that the alcohol will evaporate. In the mixture of alcohol and water it is better to use wine since the mixture taste will be pleasant. But the mixture will then stay for few months only because wine has very less preserving properties.

The different types of herbs used for the treatment of nose and throat infections are:

• Chamomile

• Echinacea

• Cinnamon

• Golden Seal

• Hyssop

These herbs can be used as medicine or inhalants. Whenever they are prepared under the rules of apothecary all the herbs are to be taken in precise ratio of solid to liquid. But precision of herbs is not required for home use. But keep in mind that the use of fresh herbs should be twice of the dried herb. They help you to treat not only the high blood pressure but you can also treat cerebral blood vessels. They can be used to excrete all the waste products from your body.

The tincture can also be used in green soap in different fields. It can also be easily prepared at home. The ingredients of the green soap include vegetable oil. There is no use of color while preparing the green soap. The color green comes from the use of natural products.

This soap is used by tattoo parlor for sterilizing their equipments, industry, cleaning plates, cooking pans. People afflicted with compulsive disorder use this soap because of the fear of germs in their bodies. Nowadays they are been used for many medical treatments among patients. There are many other uses and benefits of it about which many people are still not aware.
