People have been consuming olive leaf tea since the ancient civilizations of Greece and Babylon. Olive is being cultivated from a long time.

In the ancient times this tea was mostly used due to its anti- bacterial, anti-viral as well as cardiovascular advantages. Tea made with leaves from olive trees like Manzanillo and Mission, which are grown organically, are free from caffeine. This type of tea also has a unique flavor.

Throughout the recent decades tea made of olive leaf herb has been a subject of scientific research. A study in 2005 has found that five times the capacity of antioxidant of Vitamin C is present in olive leaves. This is almost the double that of extract of grape seed or green tea. Olive trees are generally found in the Mediterranean countries such as Turkey, Greece, Spain, Italy and Croatia.

Tea made from olive leaf has been fighting different ailments since the ancient times. Tea of olive leaf herb was given to the soldiers and colonists who fell sick after coming back from tropical countries. It has been founded by scientists that the active compounds that are present in olive leaf are hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein, and tyrosol along with other strong antioxidants. The high amount of antioxidant present in this herbal tea can also help the body effectively to fight against illness as well as premature aging.

Oleuropein is actually a natural pesticide. It is able to fight bacterial damage. It has been proved that oleuropein is capable of protecting the human body from bacteria, viruses and infections caused by fungus as well.

Hydroxytyrosol which is one more component of olive leaf tea is considered as a strong antioxidant. This component is ten times stronger than the value of antioxidant that is present in green tea. Another highly powerful and efficient antioxidant tyrosol helps in protecting the body cells from injuries caused by oxidation.

It is proved scientifically that Oleuropein has powerful anti-viral as well as anti bacterial effects. It seems to function like an antibiotic. This component in the herbal tea is also beneficial for the heart. It also helps in lowering down blood pressure.
