Nutmeg Oil

Nutmeg oil is an essential oil that contains eugenol and borneol and is volatile in nature.

It is generally colorless or has a slight hint of yellow color to it and it tastes and smells like nutmeg. The pharmaceutical and perfume industries make good use of this oil. Cough syrups use this oil as one of their major ingredients too. In ancient times nutmeg and the oil derived from ground nutmeg were greatly used to cure digestive problems and problems related to nervous systems. It has a number of useful properties and thus can also be used effectively.

Due to its healing properties, a person suffering from toothache can use this oil to numb the pain till medical treatment is acquired. A patient suffering from rheumatism can also effectively use this oil. The French make use of this oil for people suffering from bad breath and those who have an ache in the tooth can put a drop or two on a cotton swab and massage the gums with it. Mixing it with honey and taking it is a good cure for digestion problems too. If you are overexerted, the essential properties of this oil relive the tension.

The menstrual cycle for a number of people can be extremely painful. Using nutmeg oil in these cases eases the pain to a great extent. Those suffering from blood pressure should make use of the aromatic value of this oil as it helps in complete body relaxation which in turn helps in better circulation of blood throughout the body.

Nutmeg Oil
Those have a weak kidney or having stones in the kidney are often advised to use this oil due to its therapeutic value. It is also a good tonic for one’s liver as it eases the toxins present in the liver.

The benefits that one derives from this oil is mainly due to its medicinal value as it is good sedative, it’s relaxing, stimulating, antiseptic, anti inflammatory etc. It is used as a brain tonic, as a pain reliever, as an antidote for those suffering from menstrual cramps, for those having respiratory and heart troubles, for those having trouble with blood pressure.

Indigestion, bad breath, liver and kidney troubles can be solved with the medicinal qualities of this essential oil. Other products like spices, soaps, incense, flavor, cosmetics, room fresheners and tobacco also make use of this oil. It can also be used with a number of other essential oils.
