Massage Therapy Info

Massage therapy info can make wonders as it is one of the most relaxing experiences. Use of movements like kneading, stroking gently in long smooth manner, with the lotion or massage oil. Swedish massage is one of the most common forms of Massage therapy in United States.

How does it Work?

It improves blood circulation by increase of oxygen in the body tissues. The lactic acid that causes muscle pain is cleared and mobility increases. Any kind of stiffness or pain in muscles reduces. Massage also helps as the human body comes in touch, this also has psychological relief.

Why is it so popular?

There are many reasons for which people prefer massage:

• Improvement in immunity

• Stress reliever and control on hormones

• Muscle tension and joint pain

• Migraines and stress management

• Relief from sprain and strain

• Circulation problems

• Post surgical therapy

A peep into a therapy session:

A massage session generally starts after the masseuse knows your history in detail. He should be made aware of any health problems or physical conditions. The lifestyle, working habits and medical history decides the type of therapy one should undergo. Mostly the sessions last from 40 to 90 minutes.Once you start with your therapy, the first step is to undress.

You’ll be asked to do so and lie down on your stomach on a padded massage table. The masseuse will knock on the door to ensure that you are ready. He will adjust the pillows in the right position and will check if you are comfortable or not. Tell the therapist if you feel hot or cold. Oil or lotion is then applied to your body and it generally begins with your back. Full body massage moves from your back to your limbs.

Later you are asked to turn up. The massage then moves to your legs, arms, abdomen and neck. All your body is covered most of the time and only the part being massaged is exposed. This norm is followed in most of the North America. After the massage is over the masseuse leaves the room for you to change. Don’t get up with a jerk. Take your time and gently get up. There might be times when you’ll feel dizzy. It’s nothing to worry about.

More massage therapy info:

Is it a painful therapy?

It is generally relaxing. Though there might be times when the pressure applied is too much and you’ll feel it. Let the therapist know in this case. If he is treating your knots, you might feel pain for a moment but it will go away soon. Massage therapy mostly gives a soothing effect. One might feel a temporary ache for a day.

Precautions

Certain people should not undergo massage therapy:

• If one has infectious skin disease

• If one underwent radiation or chemotherapy recently.

• People with heart diseases. If you are prone to blood clotting.

• Pregnant women. They should undergo only recommended therapies.

So go ahead and treat your muscles with a therapy!
