Hops Plant

Hops plant are a cluster of female flowers. They are also known as seed cones or strobiles. Mostly this plant varieties are linked with the regions producing beer. The hallertau or hallertauer is a German plant which is very large in size.

Saaz is a noble type of this plant, the Pilsner Urquell is a soft and bitter plant. Spalt is a traditional German hop. It is very delicate and has spicy aroma. It is one of the most demanded types in the world. The Tettnang is also a species of this plant which is well known everywhere in the world.

The Hallertau or Hallertauer is found in Germany and comes from a region in central Bavaria. Another region known as Hersbrucker is a producer of these plants in Germany. Saaz is the noble herb produced in Bohemia. The Spalt is found in the Spalter region which is located south of Nuremberg. The Tettnang comes from the Tettnang region. This region is a small town in Baden-Wurttemberg in the country of Germany. The cascade types are generally found in North America. Austria is also listed as one of the producers of this herb. Germany leads all other countries in production of this herb.
Hops Plant
This herb is commercially used to a very large extent in the alcoholic beverage beer. Julmust is also another beverage where the herb is used. It is carbonated and has soda and is extremely popular in Sweden. Malta is a Latin American drink where this herb is used. This herb also has medicinal and herbal use. It is used for the treatment of anxiety, pain, restlessness and insomnia. To treat sleeplessness one should try using a pillow filled with this herb. Generally the herb is used alone for medicinal purposes but at other times it is also combined with a herb named valerian.

The cultivation of this herb goes back in history to the year of 736. It took place in the region of Hallertau in Germany. The herb was first used in the year 1079 for brewing by the Germans.

It was only until the 13th century that this herb was used for making beer. Slowly even the British started importing beer from Holland to their own country in the year 1400. In the year 1519 this herb was banned because it was considered to be a wicked weed. After a few years this herb was again grown in England.
