Homemade Household Cleaners

There are numerous reasons why you need to use homemade household cleaners. The most important reason is that they do not cause any adverse effects on your skin and health.


The chemical based cleaners, on the other hand, can impose several dangers. They produce toxic fumes, which may irritate your respiratory system. The cleaners available in the stores are expensive than homemade cleaners. Moreover, you need to buy separate cleaners for floor cleaning, toilet cleaning and bathtub cleaning and so on.


Homemade floor cleaner recipes:

You can make homemade household cleaners by using some common ingredients available in your home. A mixture of baking soda and detergent can help you to clean the bathtub well. You can make a good floor cleaner with some basic ingredients. You can mix a cup of white vinegar with a gallon of warm water. This solution can clean your vinyl floor excellently. To clean wooden floors, you can reduce the amount of vinegar.

Homemade dishwashers:

Mix water and lemon juice in 3:1 ratio. Pour the mixture in a spray bottle and use it as a dishwasher. Lemon juice is the key ingredient in many dishwashing detergents, as it can remove grease from dishes effectively. You can clean copper vessels with hot vinegar and salt. A paste of baking soda and water is effective in cleaning stainless steel vessels.

Toilet homemade household cleaner:

You can sprinkle baking soda and lemon juice in your toilet. You can scrub with the toilet brush after 15 or 20 minutes. You can also spray vinegar and baking soda into the toilet bowl. The metal rust in the toilet or bathroom can be removed by using salt and lemon juice.

Homemade window cleaner recipe:

The mixture of some mild detergent and vinegar can make the window glasses sparkle. You can mix vinegar, water and a quarter teaspoon of vegetable oil based soap to clean windows. You can use lemon juice instead of vinegar.

Carpet cleaner recipe:

For small carpet stains, you can use club soda and for tougher stains, you can use cornstarch. Apply cornstarch on the spot and allow it for at least 20 minutes. Then scrub the stain with a cup of vinegar. You can deodorize carpet with the help of baking soda. You can also add some dried basil or lavender.

Homemade disinfectant cleaner:

You can mix a few drops of natural liquid soaps, tea tree oil and lavender oil with a cup of water. You can spray the mixture on toilets, walls, countertops, kitchen sink and any other surface. This homemade disinfectant cleaner is safe, if you have small kids and pets in your home. You can use any fresh herb like thyme, rosemary or eucalyptus to make a safe disinfectant. Put the leaves in warm water and allow them to boil for thirty minutes. Strain the mixture and pour it into a bottle. It can clean any surface, except glass.

You can mix vinegar/lemon juice and olive oil to polish your furniture. You can clean fans with the help of vinegar and water solution. Wipe the fans thoroughly with a soft cloth. The paste of baking soda (mix it with little water) can help you to clean your fridge.

You can keep your home fresh and clean by using some natural recipes. Boil orange peel and sprinkle the filtered water over your kitchen top, sink and bathroom walls. You can use cedar blocks with lavender in your closets.

Homemade household cleaners offer various benefits. They are less expensive and help you to save money on your monthly budget. They are safe for kids, pets and for our planet. They smell better than the cleaners available in the stores.
